Stocked Parts
Most garage doors in Murphy are steel sectional units built to a 2005-era spec: 16-foot double doors or 9-foot singles, hung on galvanized track with nylon or steel rollers rated for that build generation. That's what we carry on the truck for Murphy calls - standard-gauge track sections, roller and hinge sets sized to fit builder-grade doors from the early 2000s, and the torsion hardware that came standard on that generation rather than the older extension-spring setups you find on houses built before 1990. We also stock a heavier roller and track upgrade, since a fair number of Murphy homeowners ask to replace builder-grade parts with something that holds up better under daily use. What we don't stock on the truck is anything custom-sized - a door built off-spec or a track bent into an unusual shape sometimes means a special order, and we'll tell you straight if that's the case rather than jury-rig a fix that won't hold.
What You Pay
We don't have a fixed number to quote here - cost on an off-track repair depends on whether it's a roller swap, a track re-hang, or full track replacement, and we won't guess at a price without seeing the door. What we can tell you is that a trip charge applies for the 12 miles out from Rockwall, the same as it does for any stop in Fate, Heath. If the track is only bent in one spot, that's usually a section replacement rather than the whole run, which keeps the job smaller. If the door's been off track more than once in the same spot, that repeat failure often points to a bracket or a stud that needs attention too, and we'll flag that rather than just resetting the door again.
The DIY Question
Don't try to push a door back onto its track yourself. Torsion springs on a 16-foot double door hold real tension, and a door that's already off-balance can drop or swing in a way that isn't predictable. If the door is only partway off - one roller popped but the panel still seated - you can sometimes close it manually to get the car out, but stop there. Forcing it the rest of the way risks bending the track further or cracking a panel, turning a roller-and-track job into a full door replacement. The one thing worth doing yourself: look for the obvious cause before we arrive. A dented spot on the track, a bracket pulled loose from the frame, a roller sitting in the driveway - that tells us what we're walking into and can save a diagnostic step on site.
Getting It Booked In
If your door's off its track, tell us what you're seeing - crooked hang, a scrape, a visible dent - and whether it happened suddenly or crept in over weeks. That helps us bring the right parts out from Rockwall on the first trip instead of a second visit. You can see what else we cover for Murphy on our Murphy coverage page, and if the issue turns out to be broader than the track - a spring, an opener, a panel - our Rockwall off-track and repair page covers the fuller range of what we handle out of the shop.
